Hello everyone,

I hope u are good and doing well. I am currently working on designing a data table for a project and I wanted to reach out to gather some insights on how to make it visually appealing. While the functionality of a data table is crucial, I believe that its appearance also plays a significant role in enhancing user experience and engagement. I am having trouble finding the right mix between making the table useful and making it look nice. What are some best practices for choosing fonts, colors in a data table and How do you approach the layout and organization of data within the table to maintain clarity and prevent overcrowding. Are there any specific tools, frameworks, or resources that you recommend for designing and styling data tables effectively
Anyone can share tips, examples, or case studies . it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help

There are so many ways to try and present your data. Each developer (artist) has there own idea. I still have not found a perfect way. Each time I start a new project I change how I use DataTables, and the extensions. Below is an image of a current project I am working on. We are in the process up upgrading 40+ dataTables from 1.13.8 to 2.x.

I use my own filtering dropdowns (highlighting what is being filtered). Also if the user is part of a certain role I show timings for database retrievals. I have also done a fair amount of CSS changes (one is changing the sort icons).

A co-worker on another project has used rendering for almost every column to combine various data into columns.

My suggestion is to start simple, get a basic layout. Then begin to tweak. There is no right or wrong way. What is funny is my co-worker really likes my datatable layouts and I really like his. You may never be totally happy with your own design. There is always one more tweak or style to be applied.
